at the shelter for over six months by 75%

CNYSPCA wants to see its long term residents start living their best lives in time for the upcoming holidays through the “Home for the Holidays” Program that will reduce adoption fees for dogs that have been at the shelter for at least six months. ‘

Tis the season when we should all be looking forward to the holiday cheer and spending time with their families and the doggos in our shelter are no different,” said Troy Waffner, Director of CNYSPCA.

There are currently six dogs that are eligible for the “Home for the Holidays” Program. The reduced adoption fee for these dogs would be $50.

Birch: An almost 5 year old terrier/Pit Bull has been at the shelter since March 28, 2023. Birch needs a little bit of training and manners but would be great for an active family with children that are at least 15 years old. Birch is in doggie playgroup.

  • Ted: An almost 4 year old terrier/Pit Bull has been at the shelter since May 22, 2023.  A true gentleman, he knows to sit and shake when you meet him and would love to romp and play in a home with kids 8 years or older.
  • Nestle: A 6 year old terrier/Pit Bull has been at the shelter since May 27, 2023. Nestle is the sweetest, chunkiest girl who is a little nervous at first, but warms up quickly. Nestle is in doggie playgroup. She would do best in a family with kids that are years or older.
  • Heath: A 5 year old terrier/Pit Bull that has been at the shelter since May 27, 2023. He loves adventures but is also happy just to hang out and is mostly motivated by treats and belly rubs. Heath has completed Tricks Class and is in the doggie playgroup. He would do best in a family with kids that are 8 years or older.
  • George: A 3 year old lab mix that has been at the shelter since June 8, 2023. He is a very sweet, big boy who loves his toys. He is in the doggie playgroup and would do the best in a family with kids that are 8 years or older.

“These doggos will all be great companions whether it’s out playing in the snow or watching your favorite Christmas movie – they have so much love to give and just want to live their best lives with a family,” Waffner said.
