The Humane Education program at the CNY SPCA is geared for all ages Pre-K – College. For our younger students, we talk about animal safety and care and what an animal shelter does. For our older students, we also teach animal safety and care, but we also talk about animal abuse, how that relates to bullying, and what they can do to help stop it in your schools. We are available for church youth groups, scout groups, school assemblies, college stress relief days (we have a variety of therapy animals that come with us, four small dogs, a cat and a guinea pig). We are happy to visit your school or meeting place, or, if you prefer, we have a large education wing available for your group as well. Once the presentation finishes, we would love to give your group a tour of the shelter. For teachers, New York State requires character education for elementary grades, and we are more than happy to fulfill that requirement. We also offer “Chat With A Cat,” a reading program for children to practice reading to our caged cats.
